7 reusable coffee cups to help save the planet

I made a pledge to myself at the beginning of this year that I wouldn’t buy any takeaway coffees unless I remembered to bring my own reusable coffee cup. And I’m sticking to it… just!

I’ve actually found that I’ve accumulated a few reusable coffee cups that work best for different occasions; like a chic glass cup for when I’m coming back to my desk, or something non-breakable for the morning commute or if I’m out at the markets and need to throw it in my bag after I’ve finished my coffee.

With Australians throwing away an eye-watering estimated one billion coffee cups each year, making sure we always use more eco-friendly reusable cups to reduce that number is one small way to help the environment and save the planet.

And so begins the quest to find the best reusable coffee cups (and best looking, as let’s be honest, if something sparks joy when we use it, we’re much more likely to keep up the habit!).

Reusable coffee cups are everywhere right now – I bet your local coffee shop even has a branded version of its own – but if you’re a little more style conscious, I’ve compiled an edit of seven chic eco-friendly reusable coffee cups that are better for the planet than the one-use cups and will impress even the most professional barista.

So without delay, and because I’ve got one foot out of the door as I head to my local coffee shop to grab an almond flat white, here are my seven favourite reusable coffee cups.

Country Road NIA Reusable Cup, $20

Is there anything more chic and simple than slate grey and dual walled glass?

Guaranteed to spark joy in this sunny yellow shade!

This cup has unmistakeable hints of California cool.

Pottery for the Planet Sandy Planet Cup, $33

There’s something comforting and homely about drinking from a pottery cup.

Reusable and biodegradable.

Toughened glass and comes in a variety of Pantone colours.

Frank Green Reusable Cup, $33

My favourite commuting cup; looks good and it won’t leak in your bag.
