Along with Maria Carey and George Michael, Love Actually re-runs and festive jumpers (or tees/bikinis in Oz!), an advent calendar is high up on my Christmas must-have list.

While we are yet to hang any of our decorations for our first Christmas in our new home (I’m holding off until December 1), and we still need to buy a tree… it’s never too early to start thinking about an advent calendar, especially as I’m planning on buying a special one this year.

Advent calendars make the lead up to Christmas so much fun. Counting down the days with little gifts and treats each morning – what’s not to love?!

It’s a tradition of ours that Mr Blonde and I take it in turns to open an advent window on alternate days. Last year we bought each other mini gifts to fill the pouches in a homemade fabric calendar, which in itself is fun and special. However this year we have decided to treat ourselves to a luxe calendar to share.

Here’s my pick of the best luxury advent calendars for Christmas this year. They’re certainly a little bit more grown up than the supermarket chocolate varieties, that’s for sure!

Kiehl’s
